So as opposed to old art, here is something I just finished tooling on at work this past friday! At the animation studio I work at we try to put out a little quickie every friday or so called a ‘5-Second Friday’, and it came up on my turn. My boss asked me to make something a little sweeter, since recently everyone’s has been involving blood or screaming or impalement, haha. So robots! And cute goils!
I designed and directed, Alex storyboarded, and Mike animated the whole thing super beautifully. I really like how this came out! Alex also composed the track, while John did a couple SFX. Below I’ve included a peek at the model sheet I made of the girl. I cheaped out on the robot and only gave him one view in the turn around, haha. Oddly enough I had the most fun designing the record player. Also I’m really into doing tonal backgrounds lately. PERHAPS TOO MUCH. I hope you guys enjoy it!

More Background Paintings from Motorcity, Episode 02 “Power Trip”
Once I started working “in-house” at Titmouse on the show, this was my first assignment. I drew the cold open sequence, which as it turns out is a rather important, recurring area for the Burners-their test track. There was plenty more struggle & strife to follow as I tried to gain solid footing, but I got through it and learned A LOT!
Here’s some of the key backgrounds from the sequence along with a few other generic Motorcity exteriors tossed in.
Up next… Episode 03 stuff.

Rebecca Sugar writes some of the best songs for Adventure Time, and she also writes some of the best stories for the show. This is an earlier work of hers that demonstrates the further depth of her brilliance.
